A hair-transplant quote is a proposal for medical care, not just a price per graft. Before comparing clinics in Seoul, obtain an individual assessment and understand the procedure, clinician responsibilities and follow-up plan.
This guide organizes questions and known expenses. It does not recommend a clinic, choose FUE or FUT for you, estimate the grafts you need or quote a current Seoul market price.
Establish what the quote counts
Ask whether the quoted quantity means grafts, individual hairs or a package with an estimated range. Request the planned scope, how the final count is recorded and what happens if the plan changes.
A price calculator cannot assess donor suitability, the cause of hair loss or an appropriate surgical plan. Discuss alternatives, risks and whether to defer treatment with a qualified clinician before paying a surgery deposit.

Ask who performs each part
Request the clinician’s identity, relevant credentials, facility details and who performs consultation, anesthesia, extraction, recipient-site creation, placement and follow-up. Verify claims through the appropriate official or professional routes.
Ask about the procedure’s risks and expected course for your circumstances. A technique name, a before-and-after photograph or an English-speaking coordinator cannot establish the quality or suitability of the care.
Compare an itemized scope
| Ask whether included | Record the answer |
|---|---|
| Consultation and preoperative assessment | Who assesses you and when the plan becomes final |
| Procedure and medicines | Technique, planned count, roles and exclusions |
| Interpreter and postoperative visits | Hours, availability and who gives clinical advice |
| Changes, cancellation and revisions | Written fees, refund terms and limits |
Request a dated written quote in its actual currency. Confirm what a deposit secures, who receives it and which terms apply if the clinician changes the plan after an in-person assessment.
Add the whole trip cost
Constructed example only: a quoted procedure of KRW 5,000,000 plus KRW 1,200,000 accommodation and KRW 800,000 transport and other planned expenses totals KRW 7,000,000. These invented figures are not market prices or a sufficient medical contingency.
Use your own quotes, exchange method, fees and travel dates. Keep follow-up care, complications, extra nights and changed flights as explicit unresolved or contingency items. Do not treat a lower converted price as a clinical recommendation.
Plan aftercare before booking travel
Agree how symptoms will be assessed, who is reachable after hours, where to obtain urgent care and how records will be provided to a clinician at home. Ask the treating clinician about travel and activity restrictions for your case.
CDC medical-tourism guidance highlights follow-up planning, records and complications. Do not schedule a long sightseeing itinerary or return flight solely from a generic recovery-day claim. Obtain prompt care for suspected complications.
Compare two hair-transplant proposals without choosing by a single unit price
Create a side-by-side record using the exact scope of each proposal. Keep the stated quantity, the unit it uses, the clinician responsibilities and the follow-up arrangement together. A lower price per advertised unit may describe a different service or omit costs you still need to clarify.
Ask which parts require an individual clinical assessment before a final plan can be offered. Then keep travel and payment questions separate from suitability. A spreadsheet can organize known expenses, but it cannot assess a donor area, choose a procedure or predict a result.
| Focus | What to check |
|---|---|
| Clinical proposal | Scope, quantity definition, responsible clinicians and alternatives to discuss. |
| Follow-up | Who provides care, where and how a problem is handled. |
| Known cost | Included items, exclusions, travel and conditional expenses. |
A reader question: Does a precise graft count in an online quote prove the plan is suitable?
No. A quoted number is not an individualized assessment of need, suitability or expected outcome. Discuss the actual plan and its limitations with an appropriately qualified clinician before treating it as a commitment.
Check payment and insurance separately
Ask the insurer explicitly about planned elective treatment and related complications, giving accurate details. A clinic’s guarantee, a card payment or routine travel insurance is not automatic coverage.
Keep the signed scope, payment record, consent and clinical instructions securely. If the proposal leaves material clinical questions unanswered, obtain another qualified opinion rather than using a price score to choose.
